Acto Latino Theater Group was founded for the purpose of fostering interest in Hispanic/Latino language, culture, and literature through the presentation of Spanish-language plays to a diverse audience. Acto Latino encourages students, staff, faculty, and members of the community-at-large (regardless of background) to join the club. Interest in Hispanic/Latino culture, literature, language, and/or Spanish theater is the only requirement.
Acto Latino and Dr. Bibiana Diaz
At the 2019 Club Leadership Awards Banquet, Acto Latino won the Excellency in Diversity Programming Award, out of about 150 clubs. Dr. Bibiana Diaz, the clubs' Advisor said, "I am so proud of our wonderful students!!! It is very rewarding to see how all of their work and dedication to the department and community has been rewarded!!"
Dr. Bibiana Diaz was also recognized as the Advisor of the Year.
This is continuing the pattern. In 2018, Acto Latino and Club Los Amigos were honored to receive the “Excellence in Diversity Programming" Award for hosting Día Latino.
CSUSB and the community gathered together to celebrate Latino culture. Tables representing different countries from Latin America promoted cultural awareness of the Latino community. There was also a DJ, games, food samples from different countries, and thanks to the generosity of San Manuel Student Union, we had mariachis and folkloric dancers.
