French Alumna publishes book

La Petite Josette en Provence is an illustrated, bilingual, French and English language adventure and learning book which takes place in Les Baux-de-Provence.

The story centers around La Petite Josette, her sister Anne-Laure, and their parents as the take a day trip to Les Baux-de-Provence. During the visit they tour a castle, have a picnic lunch of delicious, French food, go inside a medieval toy store, and explore the village.

Comprising of 20 pages of short texts and 20 pages of illustrations, this book is designed to teach both children and adults easy words and phrases in French while having an adventure in one of the most beautiful villages in France. One does not have to know French in order to read it as the book is written mostly in English with French phrases throughout. French speakers looking to improve their English skills would also enjoy the book.

Written by a mother-daughter team, all illustrations were hand-drawn and painted with watercolors by the author’s oldest daughter, Martinique Louise Fisher.

About the author

Ashley Davidson-Fisher is a graduate of California State University- San Bernardino’s Department of World Languages and Literatures. In 2006 she received a Bachelor of Arts in French for both the Business Track and the Culture Studies Track. As part of her studies, she participated in the Foreign Languages Department Study Abroad Program in Aix-en-Provence from 2003 to 2005 at the Université de Droit, D’Economie et des Sciences D’Aix Marseille III Institut D’Etudes Française pour Etudiants Etrangers.

Since 2010, Ashley, her husband, and their youngest daughter have lived in Provence, France. She is the Director of Operations for an international biotech company specializing in the research and diagnosis of leukemia and lymphoma.  La Petite Josette en Provence is her first book.
